Our firm’s practice focuses on labor and employment law as well as commercial litigation. In the field of labor and employment law, our attorneys have extensive experience in, amongst others, wrongful dismissal, discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, workers’ compensation, collective bargaining, payroll management, reductions in force, non-compete agreements, and day-to-day counseling and compliance. Similarly, in the field of commercial litigation our attorneys bring extensive experience in a wide array of matters including dealer and distributor agreements, personal injury and consumer claims, business disputes, class actions, mass torts, securities litigation, insurance contract litigation, and defense of clients affected by so-called “drive by” ADA lawsuits in Puerto Rico.
Although highly experienced trial counsels, at Aguiló LLC we recognize the importance to our clients of preventing litigation. Thus, we place significant attention and importance on partnering with our clients in preventive counseling and training intended to prevent matters from reaching litigation. But, if they nevertheless do, be prepared to defend the counseling and advice thus given.
We routinely litigate cases to conclusion, including the trial and appellate levels in such forums as the Puerto Rico Court of First Instance, U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit; the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico; and the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals. We also represent clients in administrative forums such as the Puerto Rico Department of Labor, the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB); the Puerto Rico Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO, by its Spanish acronym); the Puerto Rico Health Insurance Administration (ASES, by its Spanish acronym); and the Puerto Rico Permits Management Office (OGPE, by its Spanish acronym).
